Félicitations! Congratulations to the PEI girls (Mila Cameron, Molly Arsenault, Elin Grimmett and Lydia Steele) who brought home the bronze medal in last Friday's mountain bike relay at the 2023 Jeux de L'Acadie in Memramcook - and to their coach, Denis Doucet!

Upcoming CPEI Events

A note on event registration, cancellation and refunds:

We would like to make all CPEI members aware of a few recent policy changes regarding event registration, which aim to create an easier registration process for all involved and encourage earlier registration to our events, helping with planning for events.

You can now register via Zone4 up to the start time of a race; however, please note that the registration fees increase by $5 after 5pm the night before a race, and by $10 the day of the race. ALL registrations must take place via Zone4 (i.e. we will no longer accommodate any other day-of registrations using paper forms or cash payments).
We have a new Event Cancellation and Refunds policy which you can review here. This policy clarifies when an event might be postponed or cancelled due to weather conditions, and how refund requests will be handled due to cancellations either due to weather or to a participant no longer being able to attend an event.

THIS SUNDAY, July 9th - Red Mud Mountain Mayhem Mountain Bike Cross Country Race

Red Mud Mountain Mayhem (RMMM) has been a mountain biking tradition in the Maritimes for 26 years. Over these years, RMMM has been synonymous with “a premier Mountain Bike racing experience”.

This year, we are excited to try out a brand new race course, which will bring racers through a central stadium frequently for an enhanced spectator experience!

Enjoy some of P.E.I.’s best Mountain Bike trails as you tear through the green canopy of Brookvale Nordic Mountain Bike Park. The adult/expert course is approximately 3.9km per lap, while the kids/novice course is 1.6km.

The race starts are as follows:

U15 and Adult Beginners: 10am
U17+/Adult Sport and Experts: 12pm

We’ll be throwing some hamburgers and hotdogs on the BBQ, too!

Don Harris Century Ride (July 15, 2023) - Register Today!

Registration is open for the 13th Annual Don Harris Century Ride taking place on July 15th, 2023!

Sponsored by Rossignol Estate Winery in Little Sands, this event begins and ends at the beautiful seaside winery. Return from your ride to enjoy some lunch and unwind with your fellow riders on the winery grounds!

There are two road route options, 100km and 60km, with rest stops on both, plus a 30km trail ride.

Coming up in early August

Canoe Cove Road Race and Time Trial - August 5 & 6

NOTE: This year, based on rider feedback, we are moving the Time Trial portion of the event to Saturday, August 5th at 6pm, while the Road Race will take place on Sunday, August 6th at 11am.

This course is a popular training route for many cyclists and had been used for duathlon events in the past. The 17km Time Trial starts at 6pm on Saturday, August 5th; the 33km road race takes place the next day (August 6th) at 11am. Riders who register for both events save on registration costs!

This is the road provincial time trial championships for PEI. The first Islander across the line in each category is the provincial champ in that category.

All out of province riders welcome. A valid race license is required and it or a copy must be produced at check-in.

Springton Throwdown Showdown (Gravity Series) - August 6th

Join us as we return for a second year to Joe Downham's private bike park for a fun downhill style event. This park is similar in style to the moderately challenging Blue Nuit/Coastline trails at Brookvale, which are suitable for all rider styles and capabilities. Format will consist of 3 runs for expert and recreational categories and 2 runs for youth. Best timed run on each trail will be combined for a total result.

Event Volunteers Needed!

Cycling PEI’s races and rides would not be possible without the help of volunteers. Whether it’s help with setting up a course, marshalling an intersection to keep riders safe during a road race, manning a nutrition stop or flipping burgers on a BBQ, there are many roles you can play to help make races and rides safe, fun and enjoyable.

Cycling PEI has been invited to help organize kids’ bike rodeos at both the Lennox Island (date TBD) and Abegweit First Nations (August 4th) this summer! We’re super excited, and are looking for a handful of volunteers to join us to help make these bike rodeos amazing for the kids. If you’d like to help, please email Jordan at info@cyclingpei.org!

SYSPEI has been growing each week, and sometimes reaching pots in excess of $6000! Draws take place every Thursday afternoon.
