And did you know that today, June 3rd, is World Bicycle Day? So happy Bicycle Day! June 3 was officially designated as World Bicycle Day by the United Nations General Assembly in April 2018. The UN felt it is important to promote the many benefits of cycling for both health and the environment. The resolution for World Bicycle Day recognizes "the uniqueness, longevity and versatility of the bicycle, has been in use for two centuries, and that it is a simple, affordable, reliable, clean and environmentally fit, sustainable means of transport." From June 12-18, the City of Charlottetown is also celebrating active transportation with “Walk & Roll Week”, with a number of biking and walking activities taking place throughout the week. Would you be interested in helping lead the Mayor’s Bike Ride around Victoria Park on Saturday, June 17th at 2pm? Let us know! All who participate in the ride will be encouraged to stop at the Kiwanis Club Of Charlottetown Dairy Bar for a free ice cream cone after the ride around the park!

I'm part of Team PEI Triathlon and UPEI's Cross-Country team. I was interested in the summer position as Events Coordinator because I wanted to work with the cycling community that helped me get into the sport last summer. I also wanted to learn and help with the behind-the-scenes of event/race planning. I'm excited to work with PEI's cycling community this summer!
