Tour de Cabot

  • Bras d’Or Lakes Campground (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

A three-day epic adventure in one of the most beautiful parts of our country. Averaging approx. 100km per day at your own pace with support vehicles.

For some history of the event, click here.

We will be providing support equipment and logistics to assist in keeping the experience high and the costs low! Fully supported ride with extra bikes and wheels for breakdowns and flats.

The dates on our calendar include Friday to travel to Cape Breton. Most of us are content to drive home after our final ride on the third day so we didn't add an extra day for travel home.  We'll be starting at the Bras d’Or Lakes campground in Baddeck.  Remember that Monday is a holiday so you can likely do the whole trip without taking time off work unless you work on weekends.

Each day averages 100k or so. Some days are tougher than others but don't let that deter you from joining. We'll be going in a counter-clockwise orientation this year.  The thought of cycling the Cabot Trail may be intimidating to some but we can guarantee that you will find the level of involvement that is right for you and simply love the tour.  Set your own personal goal or simply come to enjoy time with your friends and the incredible beauty of the trail.   The intent is to include, not deter.

The general information that you need to know is as follows: All participants are encouraged to travel to Baddeck and car pool where possible. Vehicles that aren't used as support are left in Baddeck until we complete the loop. Costs associated with traveling to and from your location to Baddeck are not included in the costs of the Tour.

The cost of the Tour does include:

  • support vehicles

  • breakfast (Sat, Sun, Mon)

  • dinner (Fri, Sat, Sun)

  • transportation of gear between campsites

  • camping fees

  • National Park fees

Lunch is NOT provided - you can bring your own, but most stop at a restaurant along the way.

Riders are discouraged from bringing loads of camping gear and cooking supplies. If you have a huge tent, consider sharing it with others. Campsites generally limit how many tents can be placed on a given location. Less is more!

Registration is $220 for riders, or $170 to add an accompanying non-rider.

Register on Zone4 at https://zone4.ca/register.asp?id=33450.

If you haven't joined us in the past, or have never even been on the trail, ask someone who has.  Plan ahead, and book the Labour Day long weekend now, you won't be disappointed!

Hillsborough River Trail Ride

  • Gazebo behind the Hillsborough River Eco-Centre (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

The Hillsborough River Association (HRA) with the support of GO EAST PEI, Community of Mount Stewart, Cycling PEI, Ted’s Bicycle Studio, and Provincial Parks is organizing a Family Oriented Cycling Event on the Confederation Trail in Mount Stewart.

This is an outdoor social recreational event for all ages and abilities. Children, parents, other adults, and seniors, both at the beginner and experienced levels, are welcome to join us at the gazebo behind the Hillsborough River Eco-Centre next to the Confederation Trail in Mount Stewart.

Participants should meet at 8:45 am for a bicycle clinic, registration at 9:00 am and to start at 9:30.

Cycling will take place on the scenic Confederation Trail which is very level and should not pose a problem for participants. Before departure, there will be a bike mechanic available to check the condition of bicycles and make minor adjustments accordingly. Helmets are required. Please bring bug repellent and water as needed. Refillable containers are suggested. Hopefully COVID will not be a problem, however we suggest you bring a mask.

Please note, the Event will take place RAIN or SHINE.

This is a free event but donations will be gratefully accepted.

The Routes

The intent is to have those who are beginners or less experienced go west from Mount Stewart on the Trail with a turn around at Portage Road, just east of Route #2 (St. Peter’s Road) which totals about 16 km return. You will cross one side road this way. Other more experienced cyclists could go east toward Morell for a return trip of about 30 km, crossing several side roads. In either case, an earlier turn around will be possible depending on individual circumstances.

Participants will return to the gazebo in Mount Stewart for light refreshments and socialization. There will be donated items on hand for draws.

Participants can travel at their own pace. This is a recreational event, not a competition. Groups will be led by experienced Trail Volunteers who serve as leaders while other volunteers will follow the groups as sweeps, thus offering support and assistance as needed.

To assist in planning this event it would be appreciated if interested people would pre register preferably by Wednesday August 17th by contacting Nic at pisquidwatershed@gmail.com or on Facebook: HRA Watershed Management, also by phone at 1-514-754-5352.

For general information please contact Phil at 902-628-1813.

Great Annapolis Ride

  • Google Calendar ICS

The second Great Annapolis Ride cycling event will take place on July 23-24, 2022. This 2-day ride is a fully supported social ride through Nova Scotia's iconic Annapolis Valley. Starting at Grand-Pre National Historic Site in the heart of the UNESCO recognized Landscape of Grand-Pre, the ride winds its way past wineries, orchards, farms and idyllic pastoral scenery that this region is famous for before camping overnight with the Bay of Fundy and Cape Split as your backdrop. The next day you'll cycle by breathtaking coastal vistas before finishing in the picturesque Town of Wolfville.

On Day 1, you have the option of 95km (Grande) or 75km (Classic) rides. Whether you're a fit or soon-to-be fit cyclist, there is a ride for you. Supported by Bicycle Nova Scotia, the Great Annapolis Ride is the best ride you’ll do this year!

It’s like going on a holiday with a group of your best friends.
