Many champs emerged at the second Brackley Paracycling Time Trial on August 29th - like young Gavin (pictured above with his father and CPEI Executive Director Jordan Bober) who shaved nearly 6 whole minutes off his time between August 1st and 29th. Three cheers to all those in the Paracycling Program who have overcome physical disabilities ranging from vision loss to cerebral palsy to have fun and stay active on two wheels!

Seeking Applicants for key Cycling PEI Coaching Positions!
Cycling PEI (CPEI) is seeking expressions of interest from qualified individuals for two key roles within our youth High Performance Program. The roles currently being sought are: High Performance Program Head Coach: This is a key, remunerated, leadership position within Cycling PEI’s High Performance Program, responsible for identifying, developing, and supporting provincial high-performance cycling athletes. This is a part-time, flex-time role with a strong emphasis on the summer months, with a requirement to attend weeknight or weekend training sessions on a regular basis, along with some travel to out-of-province competitions.
2025 Canada Games Head Coach: This is a volunteer coaching role focussed on helping prepare Cycling PEI’s team for the August 2025 Canada Games in St John’s, NL. This includes overseeing the team selection process in 2024, developing a training plan and competition plan in coordination with the CPEI High Performance Program, and coaching the athletes during the two weeks of the games themselves. The Canada Games coach will lead a Canada Games staff team which may include an Assistant Coach, Team Manager(s) and Mechanic(s).

CPEI Gravity Series 2023 Bonshaw Enduro September 24, 2023
The CPEI Gravity Series is excited to return to Bonshaw Hills on September 24th for the second time this year (although the June event was actually a make-up for the final 2022 Gravity Series race lost to Fiona, so that makes this THE official 2023 Bonshaw Enduro)! There will be at least three segments and, if you were at the first Bonshaw Enduro, you know how awesome they will be! This is the final installment of the CPEI Gravity Series for 2023, and is the last cycling race of any kind on PEI this year, so you won’t want to miss it! What CPEI Members Got Up To Last Month
The summer cycling season entered its apex in the past month - here’s a brief summary of what Cycling PEI and its members have been up to: CPEI’s Rigid Riders All-Ages MTB Club capped off another fun and successful cycling season with its 235 members! The CPEI Gravity Series organized a series of fun Enduro and other events at the Strathaganza MTB Festival over the Labour Day Weekend, and the second annual Springton Throwdown Showdown on August 6th. The PEI Road Provincial Champions were crowned at the Canoe Cove Road Race and Time Trial. Mountain bikers hit the beautiful Cardigan River Trails on one of Augusts rarer-than-usual sunny and warm days for the 2023 Tour de Pants race. Ted’s Bicycle Studio organized the second annual Dusty Reg Gravel Grinder, to the delight of gravel riders from near and far! The 2023 Gran Fondo was a success in spite of the main event taking place during the rainiest day of the summer - that didn’t stop more than 100 cyclists from completing what will surely be a memorable ride! CPEI organized a kid’s Bike Rodeo at the Scotchfort Reserve of the Abegweit First Nation. Islanders and other Maritimers converged on Cape Breton for the 2023 CPEI Tour de Cabot road ride with Mark Bowlan over the Labour Day weekend. CPEI launched a pilot program to see if cycling, combined with mindfulness and breathing exercises, can improve the mental health of people recovering substance use disorders. Stay tuned for more on this! Our youth High Performance Program wrapped up its regular training season. The Stratford Thursday Women’s Road Rides had its final ride of the season, while the Monday Night Road Ride and the Wednesday Women’s MTB Rides are pedalling on into a beautiful September. Meanwhile, our Trails crew has been hard at work preparing a new multi-use/MTB trail at Brudenell Provincial Park and restoring Gairloch Trail for cycling again. Stay tuned for more updates on these projects!
