$$PLAIN_TEXT_PREVIEW$$ THE HUB & SPOKE AUGUST 2022 Earlier this month, Cycling PEI received a generous $6400 donation towards renewing our High School mountain bike fleet from a group of cyclists from across Canada who raised the funds and donated them on behalf of their PEI hosts, Bruce & Bonnie Jean MacDonald. They wanted to leave a legacy to benefit young cyclists on PEI long after their own cycling trip was over! We are so grateful for this unexpected gift, and will put it to good use! Call for Volunteers: GranFondo PEI (Aug 26-28) Next weekend (Aug 26-28) is the biggest cycling event on PEI, the GranFondo! That's right - the Fondo is back for the first time since 2019, and we've got people registered from 9 Canadian provinces, 8 U.S. states, and even from Mexico and Colombia! It takes a lot of people power to make an event with 300 cyclists over three days go smoothly! Are you able to lend a hand on August 26-28? If so, please go to the link below to check out where help is needed and to sign up! Sign up to Volunteer Volunteer shifts can be as short as a couple of hours. Roles are as varied as: Nutrition Support Registration Traffic Control First Aid Assistance Ride Ambassador Rider Support Photography Volunteers can also enjoy perks such as free participation in a Saturday ride or discounted jerseys or Saturday banquet tickets! Thank you!  VOLUNTEER  SATURDAY, AUGUST 20 - HILLSBOROUGH RIVER TRAIL RIDE SUNDAY, AUGUST 21 - DUSTY RED GRAVEL GRINDER This Sunday, August 21, is the Dusty Red Gravel Grinder! The event, sponsored by Ted’s Bicycle Studio, will feature three different rides of varying length exploring the gravel of eastern Queens County. All rides start and end at Ted’s Bicycle Studio at 26 Hollis Avenue in Stratford. Lunch will be provided after the ride. Averaging approx. 100km per day at your own pace with support vehicles.    We invite anyone who is interested to join in the fun of the ride. (Sep 3-4) Save the date for the 3rd annual Strathaganza Mountain Bike Festival on the first weekend of August, in Strathgartney Provincial Park! Like in past years, this year’s Strathaganza will feature an Enduro, and “Nightduro”, youth events and much more. On top of that, our Canada Games team consisting of Lily Nicholson, Matt Jelley, Donovan Howatt, Calum Lea and Ryan MacDonald has been having the experience of a lifetime down in Niagra these past couple of weeks!
