FEBRUARY FUN UPDATES

The results of the survey (which only takes 5-10 minutes to complete) will be used to inform our spring strategic planning and determine where Cycling PEI focuses its efforts and resources in the years ahead.

This Saturday: Rotary Run Down Fat Bike Races in Summerside!

This Saturday, February 17th, the City of Summerside and Cycling PEI along with sponsors Summerside Auto, Read Farms, DC Tire and Meridian 63 Degrees Mountain Bike Lessons and Tours are pleased to host the sixth annual Rotary Park Rundown Fat Bike Event!

The Rotary Park Rundown will be hosted at Rotary Friendship Park, with registration to be held from 9-10 with races starting at 10:30am.

Don’t own a fat bike? The City of Summerside will have three fat bikes available to borrow on site on a first-come, first-served basis!

Event Details:

There will be both men’s and woman’s classes with expert, intermediate and beginner categories for each class.
Registration is $10 for beginners and $20 for Intermediate and Expert riders.
There will be prizes awarded to each of the top three finishers in each of the categories.
The Event will be a Cycling PEI-Sanctioned Event
Course will consist of a 4.5km loop. Number of loops for each class and category will be confirmed on race day by the Event Commissaire (expecting 4 for experts, 3 for intermediate and 2 for beginners depending on conditions).
There will be heated fire pits provided to keep riders warm.
Stay for pizza and refreshments, AND, all registrants are invited to the Silver Fox at 2:30pm for a free beer, half-priced appies and prizes!
At 3pm, join Meridian 63° for a free fat bike ride around town!

New Fat Bike Trail Updates Page

Wondering what trail conditions are like at the five sites being groomed by Cycling PEI this winter? Simply hop over to the new Winter Riding page on our website, www.cyclingpei.org/fatbike, where updates are posted regularly by our dedicated crew of grooming pilots!

The updates show when a trail was last groomed, along with trail condition notes added by our pilots.

Our friends at Cycling Nova Scotia are extending an invitation to a women’s cycling weekend happening June 21-23 in Truro, NS!

The weekend will be full of workshops, rides, and fun. Some workshops include safe cycling, bike maintenance, route planning, touring, cycling with kids, yoga for cyclists, mountain biking 101, e-bikes, group rides and more.

Through the month of February, Cycling NS is offering an early-bird price of $165 for the full weekend (or $215 for non-Cycling NS members), which includes accommodations and meals!
